The animal shelter simulator from the Friv2Online Studio is dedicated to a good goal - caring for disadvantaged pets and finding new owners for them. This is very nice, but too quickly the gameplay becomes routine and monotonous. Find out what is wrong with Animal Shelter in our review.

As the new owner of an animal shelter, you immediately get the first task - to take a homeless pet, feed and water it, provide a place to sleep and play with it a little to make it feel safe. Training tasks will be held on the basics of the gameplay, they will teach you how to care for animals, buy goods for a shelter, expand the territory and build buildings, as well as look for new owners for dogs and cats.

All this will have to be done with your own hands and with a first-person view - you will not find assistants, even when you manage two dozen pets at once. Here you need to complete every step: pick up the puppy at the gate of the shelter, take it to the cage, pour food into the bowl and pour water into the drinker, throw the ball (if it is a cat, shine a laser pointer) in the aviary, clean up after it, take a picture and publish an ad on the Internet, then take the pet to the van, which will deliver it to the new owner.

Each animal has its own characteristics and needs. Someone is very mobile, the other, on the contrary, is rather lazy, the third loves children, and the fourth is stupid, because of which he constantly gets into trouble. And so on. This should be taken into account when choosing owners for pets: if you send a noisy animal to a person who prefers silence, they will not match in character.

Satisfaction with your newfound four-legged friend determines the score that your shelter will receive, and therefore the rating, which affects the availability of new items in the store and the possibility of expanding the territory.

As for the needs of pets, they come down to hunger and thirst, fatigue, cleanliness and trust in people. Until a puppy or kitten trusts you, you will not be able to send him to a new home. You can win favor with affection and games - and, of course, do not forget to feed the animal, clean up after it and wash it, and even treat it if necessary.

All this is associated with some incredibly large number of movements around the shelter. You will have to run with a pet in your arms from one building to another, dangle every minute to the computer in the main office to order goods or post an ad, clean up the boxes left after the delivery of food and medicine, and so on. Such dashes are very tiring, and soon you begin to curse them. Why the developers did not give the character a tablet, the use of which would save some of the extra gestures, is not clear.

In addition, the understanding quickly comes that each new pet is similar to the previous one, and the process of caring for animals becomes routine. Puppies, like kittens, behave in the same way, they have a meager set of commands and animations, and character traits do not mark their individuality in any way, remaining only a mark in the list of features that affects only the process of choosing an owner. In other words, an active puppy will not run wildly around the aviary, and a gluttonous cat will not gobble up box after box of food.

Therefore, Animal Shelter gets bored shortly after completing the training. It's fun to play with animals here, and the mechanics of construction are also very exciting, where you need, like in The Sims, to arrange offices and premises, trying to fit them into the limited territory of the shelter. Otherwise, the friv game is very boring, so you should recommend it for purchase only if you want to help real animals: the developers transfer part of the proceeds from sales to real shelters.
